Swivel Chair Replacement Parts

Start by positioning the replacement mechanism Pivot Pin 60% rearward of the front seat edge.

The balance is tested by adjusting the chair height until the users legs are parallel to the floor without tilting the back. After height adjustment, place feet flat on the floor in a comfortable position. With arms slightly raised off the arm rest, move your elbows towards the rear of the chair. Try to not let the chair back interfere with this elbow movement. The chair should begin to tilt rearward with this movement as your body weight shifts.

Should the chair tilt rearward too suddenly or too easily, move the mechanism to the rear about 2" and test again.

Should the chair be difficult to tilt back, move the mechanism forward towards the front seat edge by 2" and test again.

You may have to do either of the above mechanism movements more than once, reducing the amount of inch movement as you get close to the proper balance point. When proper balance is found, fine tuning if needed, can be achieved using the spring tension hand wheel (knob).

Rather than making repeated screwholes, you can temporarily install a 3/4" piece of plywood to do the trial mechanism placements. The plywood may be left in position or removed after final adjustment.

Some chairs have little wood to attach to. However, you can mount a piece of plywood to the original mounting screw or bolt holes to accomodate the mechanism size, then attach the mechanism to the plywood and move it around forward or backwards. Correct position of the spring tension knob is facing the front seat edge.
