Swivel Chair Replacement Parts

How to fix an Office Swivel Chair cause and remedy

This assumes the Chair is a Gas height adjustment type which can be identified by the chair having one or more levers protruding from either the left or right side directly under the seat. Also, the person doing the "fix" has a general knowledge and use of basic hand tools.

Tools which generally may be needed:

  • Small adjustable wrench
  • Large Phillips tip screw driver
  • Medium straight tip screw driver
  • Small or medium pry bar (for Caster removal only)
  • Metal vice medium or large (for troublesome cylinder removal)
  • Large pipe wrench or Lift-Off® tool (normal cylinder removal)

It should be noted that there are literally thousands of different chair mechanisms (under the seat) being sold and it's difficult that you can locate one that has the exact dimensions as what is on your chair, especially if it is an import. All our mechanisms (except one) and parts are manufactured in the USA or Canada. Therefore, retrofitting (adapting) may be your only option to save your chair if the mechanism requires replacement. Most repairs will require that the Base is removed. View this first.
